8. Cavity Shielding Another note about these two cavities is the need for shielding. A layer of selfsticking copper shielding tape or StewMac’s shielding paint can aid in the process of reducing the hum from your electronics, which with the EMG Select in a Wishbass, is almost a sure thing. I don’t want to get into this too much here because it is more related to the guitar’s electronics, but the copper tape can be easily purchased off eBay (cheaply) and is the method I would recommend. Otherwise, both products can be purchased thru a luthier supply company. Copper tape shielding on the bottom of the control cavity cover is also desirable. Shielding should be done after application of final finish. If you choose not to shield these cavities, then your bass will perform as it did when it arrived, so it is clearly a personal choice.
