Zitat:ACOUSTIC CONTROL CORPORATION MODEL 220
Classic, Vintage, Powerful
This amp is one of the 2nd generation of the ACOUSTIC CONTROL CORPORATION line of amps and comes from a venerable heritage. As most know ACOUSTIC amps were used by many of the greats including Jaco, John Paul Jones, Larry Graham, Bootsy Kronos and many many others. These amps have a distinctive sound which sets them apart from all others and is why many of the true bad asses insisted on playing through nothing else.
This particular amp is the Model 220 and was one of ACOUSTIC'S best selling amps ever. It is a predecessor to the 450 and 470 amps and has many features in common with them. It has basically the same power section as the 450 and 470 putting out 125 watts @ 8ohms 170 @ 4 ohms and 220 @ 2 ohms. Don't let the power ratings fool you though. Plug this amp into a 4 ohm cab and it will break glass, wood, and capillaries. It is flipping LOUD!!! Not only that but it has a liveliness and dynamic quality that is hard to come by. Harmonics literally jump out of your speakers. The tone is so rich and vibrant. Not like a tube amp and not exactly hi-fi but very clear and full-bodied. The combination of traditional rotary treble, mid, and bass controls with the 5 band graphic EQ allow for alot of versatility. The EQ works very well and with the addition of the power boost switch you can achieve pretty much any tone you might need.
Everything on the amp works including the footswitch jack for the graphic. The pots and switches may get a little cleaner if you spray them out. The amp is pretty good shape considering its age but the case does have a number of nicks, scratches, and minor tears. The front and back panels are pretty nice and it has all of its knobs and sliders unlike most ACOUSTICS!
This tone is great for recording.
