WD-40 is one of those products that all of us have lurking somewhere in the deep recesses of our garages and utility closets. WD-40 is great for silencing a squeaky door, loosening rusty bolts, and freeing stuck car parts but it is also a great handy tool around the house. See if WD-40 can get you out of a household jam with one of these ten helpful tips.
Have you ever stepped on a piece of gum or tracked some into your house only to have it stick to your floor? A quick spray of WD-40 will loosen the gum and make it easy to remove.
If you have small children you have probably ended up with crayon on your walls at one time or another. WD-40 will take crayon right off of walls and just about anything else it gets on. Just spray it on and wipe it off. Your walls will be greasy after the crayon is gone but dish soap and water will wash it away.
Glass shower doors always seem to get cloudy looking and those expensive cleaners just don't do the job. If you spray some WD-40 on your glass shower door and wipe it down your shower door will look great. The WD-40 will also prevent future water spots on the shower door. Be careful not to spray the WD-40 on the shower floor or you will cause a nasty accident.
If you have a scratch on a ceramic floor tile WD-40 will make it disappear from view. WD-40 will also clean paint, crayon, makeup, and coffee stains from your ceramic floor.
Do you have a problem with high lime concentration in your water? WD-40 can help remove lime deposits and stains from your toilets and sinks. Just spray a little on and scrub gently with a brush or scrubber sponge.
If you have grease stains on your clothing WD-40 can get them out. Saturate the stain with WD-40 and wash as usual. WD-40 can also remove grease and oil stains from your driveway. Spray the stain heavily with WD-40 and then rinse it away with a bit of soap and water.
Perhaps you have some of those cute butterflies or seashells on the bottom of your bathtub to stop you from slipping in the shower. Over time these rubber decals get pretty grungy looking. You can remove your old tub decals with a liberal dose of WD-40 but be sure to thoroughly wash out the tub with soap when you are done.
Dish drainers get a disgusting build-up of dirt and soap that is almost impossible to scrub off. WD-40 will loosen up the scum and make it easier to get off.
When your locks freeze up in the winter WD-40 is your friend. Whenever a lock is frozen just spray in some WD-40 and the lock will open. Be sure to keep a few cans in places where you will be able to get them if your car or house doors become frozen.
To protect your windows, doorknobs, and hinges while painting spray a coat of WD-40 on all surfaces and the paint will not dry on them. If paint does drip on the floor and dry some WD-40 will help you clean it up!
