Yamaha BB1500A
This great Yamaha Jazz Bass is a delight to play with a fast neck and a very versatile pre amp (including mid switch and variable freq.).
Warning: the thick and punchy bridge pickup sound is quite addictive!
Specs:
- Jazz Bass-style active alnico pickups. - The neck is maple and the fingerboard is rosewood. Solid alder body.
- 34" scale, 4150 grams
- The onboard controls look very standard, but the extra tone knob is actually a three-way selector switch. The middle position is “off,” but positions 1 and 2 are actually customizable presets for the onboard preamp. You can remove the small back plate on the body and adjust the tones of these two presets, allowing one to dial in a wide range of bass tones from this single instrument. It is hard to overstate how unique this electrical setup is.
This model was only produced for a short time in the late 80's, it is quite a rare Yamaha bird for sure.
And well.. It was good enough for bassmaster Jeff Andrews… so it might be for any demanding player!
