I am selling an exceptionally rare bass - a 1990 Ibanez SR924QM from Japan.
This is the most expensive version of this model: with a body made of figured maple (it's not just the top - the entire wings are made of this wood), a maple-walnut neck, DiMarzio pickups and an ebony fingerboard. When it came onto the market, it cost over 200,000 yen. Three decades ago, this was the price of four Jazz Basses.
Although the ax comes from the Soundgear line, it doesn't really resemble its sisters: it has a wider neck (42mm at the nut), a neck-thru-body construction and passive electronics with an unusual arrangement of reversed P and J pickups . It also has a completely different shape. Manually, it comes close to the legendary Ibanez Musician - only with a lower weight and a flatter neck.
The quality of fit and luthier details are at the same top level: from the delicate insertion of the bridge into the body to the slight tilt of the headstock for better string tension. The matte finish makes a very luxurious impression as well.
Soundwise, the SR924QM is a beast: it has a very strong attack and a lot of midrange that pulls through... everything. It sounds great when slapped or played with a pick, but after turning the tone down it will also fit in funky covers.
The guitar is very well cared for: it has a small dong and two tiny dents on the body, one of the Gotoh keys is a bit scratched... And that's pretty much it. The action is set at 1.6-1.7 mm at the 12th fret.
All in all: a stunningly beautiful bass with powerful sound from the 80/90 era... and extremely rare.
