I am selling an Ibanez SR915. Made in Japan, Fujigen, 1998 - personally I think this is one of the nicest SRs from this famous factory. The oil finish combined with the light ash, wenge/bubinga neck and very dark rosewood on the fingerboard gives a great visual effect. The ax is beautiful.
The bass received a very big upgrade - the stock electronics were replaced by active EMG 40DC humbuckers with simplified vol/vol/tone EQ (a jack input went in place of the fourth knob, the original input is empty). The Ibanez pickups had specific dimensions, so a professional luthier adjusted the holes and cleverly filled the empty space with black foam. After replacing the pups, the bass gained a great deal of middle growl mixed with the typical EMG tone, sounding a bit like Ken Smith's baby with Spector. Pure 90s.
As you can see from the photos, the bass has been played - hence the various rubs in the thin finish. Technically, however, it works perfectly, the neck is straight, the truss works fine as well as the tuners and heavy-duty bridge. Fujigen used to produce only finely crafted instruments and so it is here too. The original frets are high, although with intensive playing they will certainly ask for a grind. The action can be comfortably set at 1.7-1.8mm above the 12th fret though.
One knob cover is missing as I didn't have a fitting third, I guess it's up to the owner's button so they would be replaced anyway.
In terms of comfort, this is simply an Ibanez SR - super-thin, super-fast neck (16.5mm string spacing) and a weight of less than 4kg. There are no more comfortable axes; I'm selling this one only because I still have a very similar SR4005.
The bass is very pleasant to the touch, you can feel the texture of the wood on the body and neck.
To be seen in Poznan, Poland, European shipping is of course not a problem.
Private sale, so no warranty, returns etc.
