For sale is a beautiful Ibanez SR900 from the Fujigen factory in Japan. The 900 is almost a white raven - from my research, they were only released in the European Union and Japan; Only the twin SR1000 and 1300 models (in mahogany and padouk respectively - the SR900 is in ash) have gone to the rest of Asia and the USA. Interestingly, according to the catalogues, the model came out in 1995-97, while my copy dates from 1993. Perhaps it was some kind of pilot series.

Either way, what we have here is a breathtaking piece of lightweight Japanese ash - two pieces with perfectly defined grains (the contrast isn't bumped up - they really are that distinct). Mahogany Oil (MOL) finish. The typical ultra-thin SR neck is a sandwich of mahogany and bubinga with a rosewood fingerboard with a radius of 12 and pearl dots, medium frets and 24 frets. It's all completed with gold hardware: Gotoh keys and a solid Accu-cast B bridge. The bass is very light - 3.6 kg. The quality is traditional Fujigen, everything is as it should be.

Ibanez is a very versatile bass thanks to the PJ set (AFR pickups) and active Vari-mid circuit. The triple parametric EQ (with additional midrange frequency adjustment) gives you plenty of tonal possibilities – you can crank out both a precision purr and a slap vee. And everything in between :-).

Although the guitar is more than 30 years old, its condition can be assessed as very good - the frets need no sanding, the neck is straight, the truss rod is in good working order (1.8mm action) and the gold hardware... is still gold. However, the bass has been used for playing, so there are marks in the form of small scratches and dings, as well as the standard imprint from a thumb resting on the pickup.

All in all, it's an extremely comfortable and eye-catching bass of great quality both in terms of sound and finish. They don't make them like this anymore - well, not in this price range!

to be tested in Poznań, Poland, but no problem sending safely within the EU.

private sale, no warranty etc.
