For sale: Ibanez flagship model - SR5006 Prestige from 2012. Absolute top-tier instrument featuring high-quality materials such as wenge and mahogany, Gotoh tuners, Mono Rail bridge, and a passive/active mode with Bartolini USA Custom pickups. Crafted in Japan at the renowned Fujigen factory, the superior craftsmanship is evident in every detail.
I've spent some time with this bass and, despite it being the most comfortable sixth I've ever played, I must accept that 6-string basses are not for me. The neck is thin with a string spacing of 16.5mm, making it very easy to play. However, I find it to be one string too ambitious for my needs - I've probably never managed to use the C string intentionally, haha.
This 2012 model has been played but loved and taken care of. It has a few minor dings and some wear between the pickups, but it's in perfect technical condition – the frets look brand new and the action is set below 1.5mm. These Prestige Ibanez basses have incredibly stable necks due to titanium reinforcements, allowing for an amazing setup. When you hold it, you can feel it's in the same league as a USA Stingray or the highest-end Fender models.
Sound-wise, it offers a punchy growl with a dark yet surprisingly clear and articulate tone. Chords and harmonics resonate beautifully on this bass - you can find a lot of extra technical sound samples on Youtube. It's an amazing instrument for progressive rock/metal, modern jazz or other fancy stuff for people who understand notes. And as such, it's probably not the best choice for a Marcus Miller tribute band's lead bass. Just saying.
And there's the looks... Stunning.
Available for testing in Poznań, Poland. The bass comes with the original flight case from Ibanez, which seems bullet-proof. I can ship internationally in a solid box.
