For sale is a Japanese medium-scale bass Ibanez Roadstar II RB830 in Crystal Pearl color. Manufactured in 1987 at the Fujigen factory.
Scale 32 inches, so slightly less than in traditional basses, but enough to maintain proper string tension. Small, lightweight basswood body, comfortable, slim neck with rosewood fingerboard and headstock in a 2+2 arrangement. Nut width 40mm, weight just over 3kg - great for smaller people.
The hardware is very good: solid brass Accu-cast bridge and large Smooth Tuner keys. The bass has a passive PJ system (P-50 and J-50 pickups) and bal/vol/tone adjustment.
The Roadstar sounds very bright and is great for fast playing, also with the thumb. On the front pickup and with the highs taken down, however, you can also get a nice "Motown" sound.
The bass is in very good condition, especially considering it is almost 40 years old - the biggest flaw is a lighter trace of some stupid sticker from decades ago. The varnish is originally a bit creamy, and in this place it has simply faded a bit. Apart from that, there are some minor scratches and abrasions, but no cracks in the varnish. The neck is in excellent condition: straight, smooth, the frets are still high, the truss rod works. The action can be set very low - currently I have 1.5 mm above the 12th fret with fresh 40-95 strings.
I am selling it together with a solid gig bag.
The bass can be played in Poznań (Poland), shipping is possible at the buyer's expense.
Private sale as I have to trim down my collection, therefore no warranty, return etc.
