Selling this very unique and rare top of the line Ibanez ATK 1300 - produced in 1999 in Fujigen, Japan, by the most elite group of Ibanez luthiers responsible for the Prestige models.
Whereas ATKs are commonly known as "Stingray killers", the 1300 is so much more due to the additional single neck pickup, 3-blade humbacker and 5 way switch allowing for different combinations of coils. The sound is quite modern but with a lot of growl making it a great studio instrument. However, I wouldn't say it sounds like a MusicMan - whereas it packs a lot of punch in the humbucker mode, it has more universal character. I would even dare to say it might be a perfect compromise between MM and Jazz Bass - if you want to have both, but can only have one... Buy ATK!
Video of this bass:
Manually, the bass is somewhere between JJ and PB. Strongly contoured core is super comfortable to handle.
Mahogamy body with amazing flamed maple top, 3-piece satin maple neck and fingerboard, Gotoh tuners, patented super-heavy bridge - everything works perfectly. Frets are fine, action is low, weight is very decent 4-ish kg. There is some wear and tear on the body, a few screw missing and some stains on the hardware, but nothing serious for 25 years. And the guitar looks stunning in details - you can see the prestige quality. It's hard not to fall in love... Unless you hate the shape (like my wife does).
it's recently been set up by a luthier with electronics rewired to make it like new with Ibanez schematics. All 5 switch positions work great.
It's one of the crown jewels of my collection, almost unattainable in Europe, and I must confess I might take the add down if I sell some other basses (my herd has grown out of control and I need to trim it a bit due to space restrictions) as the chances of getting another ATK1300 in this lifetime are close to 0...
