Although Greco is best known for its excellent copies, the Japanese have released many of their own designs into the world. The BOB-65 is one of the more interesting examples. Dynamic shape, elegant white (nowadays rather cream) paintwork, gold hardware, striking trapezoidal markers.... It can appeal, and it certainly stands out.
The sound is also interesting - although it looks passive, it is active bass. The battery powers a magic flick that cuts or boosts the midrange completely changing the character of the sound. The Pro-Duce pickups have a similar spec to the EMG, the ax sounds great in slap. The hardware is also cool - Gotoh keys and a proprietary Bob-Force bridge. The latter is impressive - a heavy piece of brass on 6 screws with a very clever patent that allows you to change strings without threading. A few seconds and the strings are on, brilliant.
Manually the BOB is great: very low string action, quite slim neck with great access to the 24 frets, weight around 4 kg and good balance. The body is built of alder, on the fingerboard we have a nice, thick rosewood.
The condition, despite being about 35 years old, I assess as very good: the trussrod works perfectly, the frets don't even need sanding, the varnish - apart from one major loss in the socket area and a few small dents - is superb .
The guitar can be played in Poznan, Poland, safe shipping at the buyer's expense will not be a problem. Original Greco gig bag included.
