I'm offering a remarkable Fernandes BO-60 Stone Logo bass guitar from the late 1970s, a testament to the golden era of Japanese luthiery. This instrument seamlessly blends vintage aesthetics with robust, versatile sound, making it a prized addition for any bassist seeking quality and character.
Key Features:
Neck-Through Construction:
The BO-60 boasts a 5-piece maple and mahogany neck-through design, enhancing sustain and providing smooth access to higher frets.
Body:
Crafted with ash (sen) wings, the body delivers a balanced tonal foundation with pronounced lows and clear highs. It’s also fairly light at 4,1-4,2kg.
Fingerboard:
A rosewood fingerboard offers a warm tonal response and comfortable playability.
Pickups: Equipped with dual Fernandes L-20D pickups, this bass provides a rich, dynamic range with a lot (and I mean a lot!) of punch
Controls:
Simple yet effective control layout featuring one volume knob, one tone knob, and a 3-way toggle switch for versatile tonal options.
Scale Length:
Standard 34-inch scale ensures familiar feel and tension.
Nut Width:
Comfortable 40.8mm nut width accommodates various playing styles, and the neck is on the slimmer side.
Condition:
Four years ago, the bass underwent a comprehensive professional luthier service, including the replacement of frets and the nut. It remains in excellent technical condition, with pretty much immaculate hardware and some age-appropriate wear on the finish, especially on the back. The instrument is set up and ready for immediate play. Strings action is great at 1,5-1,7mm above the 12th fret.
Sound Profile:
The Fernandes BO-60 is celebrated for its powerful, resonant bass tones. The combination of quality woods and neck-through construction delivers exceptional sustain and clarity, making it suitable for genres ranging from rock and funk to blues and jazz. Since it’s a (doubly) bassy instrument with just 20 frets, it’s probably your choice for soloing though. Just saying.
Feel free to reach out with any questions or to arrange a viewing in Poznan, Poland (!). Shipment within the EU would be no problem.
Don't miss the opportunity to own this vintage gem that embodies the pinnacle of Japanese craftsmanship.
The bass comes with a vintage leather(ish?) gigbag.
It’s a private sale (collection reduction - have a look at my other ads) hence I can offer no warranty, return etc.
