For sale: American Fender Jazz Bass American Standard from 2012 in Candy Cola color.
The condition is almost like new—despite being 12 years old, the bass has no dings, cracks, rust, or patina.
Launched in 2008, the American Standard series is one of Fender's most iconic lines today. Over the decades, the American giant has gone through various phases, some better and some worse. The turn of the century was necessarily weak—customers complained about quality, new models lacked inspiration, and sales were declining. The luthiers in Corona knew they had to get their act together.
Fender needed to become a premium product again.
The JB American Standard is one of the first products of this new approach. The revolution is evident in both the bass's features and its finish. The thin metal bridge was replaced with a solid Hi-Mass bridge with the option to string through the body, lightweight tuners were added to the headstock, and it is powered by Custom Shop '60s Single-Coil pickups.
The rest of the specifications (alder, rosewood, satin neck, pickup spacing) and the sound are also "60s-inspired": Custom Shops have a low output (this is not a bass for metal or punk), but they play incredibly evenly and responsively. You can find plenty of interesting samples online—American Standard sounds just like the basses from the unforgettable 60s. Pure funk, rock and blues stuff.
This is also the reason for the sale—I personally prefer more aggressive basses.
Technically, it is perfect—the frets look almost unused. The string action is very low, currently at 1.25 - 1.5mm above the 12th fret. It weighs just over 4 kg.
The bass can be tried out in Poznań, Poland, and shipping will not be a problem.
