So, this is rare – ultra rare. One of the very few 5-stringers made in the famous Matsumoku factory in Japan, Aria Prio II Deluxe RSB-5 is a thing to behold - this one, even more so. Coming from 1984/85 (only period they were produced), the bass looks almost like new - there is just some patina on the solid brass bridge and two small dots on the body, that's all. The bass had just two longtime owners (a music professor and a luthier) and it shows - it's a collector's item in a collector's condition and you literally won't see another one like this, especially in Deep Red. It's not "perfect for a 40-years old instrument". It's just perfect.
Everything is original apart from a custom-made brass nut which replaces a lesser graphite one and adds nice resonance to open strings.
And as for the bass itself... Fairly light (c. 4kg), alder body, rosewood/maple neck, bolt-on construction with very ergonomic shape for good access to all 24 frets. In many ways, it's just a bolt-on SB-900 as it uses exactly the same pickups (MB-H2 alnico humbuckers), electronics (passive with two separate volume and tone controls + a few boosts and coil switches), tank-like Brass bridge and tuners. Everything is put together with the iconic Matsumoku quality.
Noteworthy, the bass has a very narrow neck - string spacing is just 16mm. At first it seems unnatural, but after a few moments you get used to it... and fall in love with how fast and comfortable it is (unless you have really massive fingers - it might be too much for you).
Audio-wise it's what you'd expect from an Aria RSB which stands for Rock Solid Bass - a strong, mid-focused sound that cuts through the mix like crazy. It's set up for a B string (very low action - c. 1.5-1.7mm), but this model was also often used with high C. As said - 5-stringers were a novelty back then.
The bass comes with an era and shape appropriate hardcase also in very good condition.
Located in Poznań, Poland, can be safely shipped EU-wide at the buyer's cost.
